    Involvement and Other

    Roper Mountain Science Center

Roper Mountain Science Center is a science center located in Greenville, SC that holds exciting field trips, summer camps, and hosts public events. They have multiple buildings with a marine lab, butterfly garden, historic farm, and much more. I got the opportunity to work there for the past several summers on the camp staff, which has allowed me to become better at communicating with children and working in a scientific setting. I learned a lot about the animals in the labs and programming among other things. The summers I spent at Roper Mountain, I am sure to cherish forever.

    Lifeguard

I was a lifeguard at a waterpark a couple summers ago. This position taught me how to keep a close eye on children, assert myself to adults, and how to do first aid and CPR. I also was a party host for the people who rented one of the party tents for celebrations, which improved upon my people skills significantly.

    Canopy Life Ambassador

Canopy Life is a school in Kenya that allows students to attend school past 5th grade, when schooling usually ends. These students have sponsors that fundraise and donate for their tuition. My high school partnered with Canopy Life, so that we could sponsor our own student. During my senior year, I was the Canopy Life Ambassador at my school, which meant that I was in charge of communicating between our school and theirs as well as fundraising for our Canopy life student's tuition. I learned a lot about communication across cultures, holding a public audience, and marketing and fundraising skills, which I am sure to use in my professional life.

    SI Leader at Auburn

The SI (Supplemental Instruction) Program is one aimed at assisting student in notoriously difficult courses by offering them study sessions outside of class that are hosted by a peer who has already been through the class. These study session are geared towards building connections between students and content mastery. I have had the honor of being an SI Leader for two (going on three) semesters now. Having supported Principles of Biology and General Chemistry II, this opportunity has allowed me to gain experience in breaking down complex topics to an understandable level, captivating an audience, and planning. For every session, I plan out my activities to be engaging, informative, and unique, so that students learn the material to their fullest, talk to each other, and do not get bored. I love being an SI Leader because I feel like I am making a real change in the lives of my students, while also having the opportunity to work with so many different personalities in my every day life.
